Nielsen Sessions Introduces "Spring Cam" Latch
Nielsen Sessions's history of innovation continues with the introduction of the Spring Cam variable compression light duty pressure latch. The Spring Cam offers ease of operation and enhanced durability for securing electrical panel boxes, cabinets, and similar applications. Using a spring loop that acts as a cam - greater compression is applied as the cam is turned - the Spring Cam provides variable copression force that holds flush doors securely in place, and reduces vibrations in environments that don't require high performance sealing or security.
With more compression than a standard latch, but at 10% of the cost of a typical compression latch, the Spring Cam offers cost-effective variable compression. The Spring Cam is available in a range of materials and methods of action, to meet virtually any need. Contact Nielsen Sessions for more information on how the Spring Cam can add variable compression force to your design, without compressing your design budget.

Nielsen Sessions Revises Web Site To Provide Greater Customer Service.
Research indicates that more and more design engineers and purchasing personnel are looking to the Internet to transact business and find order information. In addition, our customers have told us that they prefer supplier web sites that are easy to use. Based on that research, Nielsen Sessions has revised its web site in several ways:
We have added order-tracking capabilities via links to the UPS and Yellow web sites to help you manage your supply chain more easily. Our new list of preferred distributors can direct you to a distributor near you who carries Nielsen Sessions products. The list includes links to the distributors’ web sites. Users of our web site who are interested in learning about our quality credentials will now be able to view a digital copy of our ISO certificate through a link on our web site. And our case study portfolio has been updated to include a description of the custom latch solution we recently developed for Daktronics, a leading manufacturer of scoreboards and other video display systems.
These changes represent our commitment to providing a web site that is as useful as possible to our customers, and we will continue to make changes to our web site, as appropriate, to better serve the needs of our customers.

Nielsen Sessions adds 3D CAD via Solidworks() to its collection of Mechanical Design offerings.
The company has added SolidWorks 3D mechanical design software that combines the functionality that engineers need to create exact product designs with the ease of use that lets them complete those designs quickly.
A significant design trend is the ongoing drive for maximum function in smaller spaces. "Many products, including cases, enclosures, and panels are being made to fit in smaller spaces. At the same time manufacturers require high performance, greater strength, and often more security." said Doug Ericson, Nielsen Sessions Engineering Manager.
Nielsen Sessions works with manufacturers to analyze dimensions, strength, mechanical performance, ergonomics, and other key hardware characteristics. Once a prototype is produced, it undergoes thorough testing to make sure that key specs and required tolerances are met. These tests include salt spray and other environmental testing, high- and low-temperature performance, tensile strength, and shock testing.
According to Ericson, "We work as design consultants to develop innovative products, and identify hardware solutions that meet our customers' goals. We take great pride in our understanding of the product design process, and we understand what tools design engineers need to be most successful."
